Parting is such sweet sorrow...

January 23, 2017

It was Iris Murdoch who said that writing the end of a book is a kind of negation. I’m sure she didn’t mean that it all becomes a waste of time the moment you type the words The End or punch in that final full stop, but it goes some way to explaining why I’ve been unwilling to wrap up JERICHO ROAD, the fifth in The Nathan Hawk Murder Mysteries. I felt exactly the same writing for television. Would a ‘but’ rather than an ‘and’ work better? Truth is, it was an excuse to spend one more day doing what I love … writing. Solution? Get on and write another book. It’s not as if I’m short of ideas and there’ll be another Hawk book next year…
